Sick of Work Day

For the first time in our nearly 11 years of marriage, Craig took a sick of work day. Craig is a project development director (team leader) at our company, American Structurepoint, Inc. He has been putting in anywhere from 50 to 70 hours a week as he works on a major road construction project involving roundabout interchanges. This project has been his baby for more than 3 years and finally came to fruition last year when INDOT relinquished the SR 431 to the City of Carmel. Since then, he and his team of nearly 10 engineers and technicians have been working feverishly to complete the first of two interchanges of the new Keystone Avenue, scheduled to be completed in March. In addition to his own team, he is having to manage other departments who are working on the project for him - environmental scientists, architects, and environmental engineers to name a few. He is working directly for the owner and president of our company, something he has done for the last 5 years. He has proven himself and worked hard time and time again. His hard working, do your best attitude is one of the many things that attracted me to Craig.

But, it has been hard seeing him working so hard, not completely by choice. I would not classify him as a workaholic because he doesn't want to be there all the time, the nature of the project dictates it. More importantly, no matter how much he works, he has NEVER missed an importatnt event in my or the kids lives.

So, for him to take a "sick of work day" is unheard of...welcomed, but unheard of. And, of all days, our DS is home sick, I think with strep throat, but we haven't gone to the doctor yet to find out. They are on the couch watching Facing the Giants, one of our favorite movies...and yes, we let our almost 6-year old watch it.

The day may not be shaping up quite like we thought last night, but it's still nice to have him home for the day. And, it is an answer to prayer....I have been praying that God would allow him some time to rest and rejuvinate, and now he has it! Thank you Jesus!
