Funny how up until this week this blog has just been there. Inspired to start blogging about our adoption experience about 18 months ago, but never really having the motivation to do anything with it.
That is, until now
My heart is burdened today. DUH!!! You did do a whole post titled "Burdened a Plenty". Tell me something I don't already know.
Okay. Okay. But this one, this burden is new. I just learned of it this afternoon myself. And this one hits really close to home, in a far away sort of way.
We received an e-mail this afternoon from the folks at HIS Home for Children - you know, where Joshua currently lives, receives his food, clothing, and shelter. THAT place. A ministry started 10 years ago by Hal and Chris Nungester because they felt God's leading to care for the "least of these". In those 10 years their ministry has grown to 125 children and two homes. Many children have adoptive families, some don't. Many of the children are healthy, some have serious health issues. All of the children have a safe place to live, food in their bellies, clothes on their backs, and medical care when they need it. The older children do nightly devotions, including worship through song, reading a devotion, a Bible passage, and a prayer time. I have been a part of these wonderful evenings. I have formed relationships with some of the older girls. I am so looking forward to seeing some of them when I travel back to Haiti.
The children don't know what it takes to do all of that for them. Through the loving donaitons of families, friends, even complete strangers, HIS Home has been able to keep all 125 kids safe, fed, clothed, and healthy. But, the economic situation is not lost on them. On the contrary, it is probably magnified. Giving has been down, and funds that were to be used for other purposes have been used for food and medical care. Just so they could make sure the kids never missed a meal.
This last year has been difficult for them and the rent on the Boy's home is due next Sunday. If they do not pay the rent by then, they will lose the house. In fact, the check has already been witten, trusting the funds will arrive in time. There is someone providing a matching donation of up to $1000, for any funds received between now and next Wednesday.
Here's the bottom line folks: THEY. NEED. YOU.
They need you to pray for God's perfect provision. They need you to determine if you could maybe give a little, or a lot. They need you to send this to all your friends and their friends. They need you to step up and be a partner in their ministry.
It is not lost on me that just this morning I wrote that none of what is happening is a surprise to God. He knows what's happening. He knows the outcome. He just knows. So here I sit, trusting Him.
Tomorrow, I am taking a day of prayer and fasting. I have challenged adoptive families to do the same. We can all go to Him, seeking His guidance for HIS Home, and trusting His sovreignty. He is awesome and wonderful and SOOOOOOO much bigger than this.
"Do not store up for yourselves tresures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21
