one month anniversary

It has been exactly one month....

...since our lives were turned upside down - in a good way.

...since we have seen God work huge miracles in our adoption.

...since we were in Miami.

...since I have felt stress like I've never felt before.

...since I stopped my chocolate fast.

...since I said I have 4 kids - 2 here, 1 in heaven, and 1 in Haiti.

...since we had Joshua placed in our arms.

Today is the one month anniversary of our GOTCHA!!! day with Joshua.  It was on January 26th that we got to see and hold and feed and play with and rock and hold and love in person, Joshua.

The last month has been amazing, wonderful, challenging, momentous, exhausting, tremendous...and we wouldn't have it any other way.

JOSHUA IS HOME!!!!

Whatever trials may come, we will go through them.  Whatever stumbling blocks may come in our path, we will go around them.  Whatever time we must wait, we will wait.  And we will do it all with Joshua in our home...in our arms.

I no longer have to say "1 in Haiti"....now it is just 4 kids - 3 here and 1 in heaven.

He's Home!!!

We got the results of all of Joshua's lab work.  With the exception of a bacteria in his belly, everything came out either normal, negative, or not immune.  And that bacteria...well it usually runs its course.  Joshua has been asymptomatic and so there is no need for treatment.  YAY!!!  Again...all of this is because he was in GREAT hands in Haiti - hands of directors who knew how to properly care for them and the hands of the awesome nannies who were trained on how to care for them and who loved each and every child.  I continue to be so thankful for HIS Home and to Hal and Chris.

Chris has gone back down to Haiti to try and get 11 medical kids out - children who need care they cannot and will not receive in Haiti.  The hospital here in the states has been lined up, as well as host families for all the children.  These children have issues like hydrocephaly, cleft palettes, colostomies, seizures, etc.  Bottom line, they need to be here to get the much needed care they need.  Please join me in prayer as we stand in the gap so Chris can get these kids home - the Embassy needs to approve them and the Haitian Prime Minister needs to approve them.  And UNICEF needs to stay out of it!!!!

UNICEF has continued to wreak havoc in Haiti.  And it doesn't help when there are Americans who are accused of child trafficking.  We have a HIS Home family whose daughters were granted parole on Monday and whose papers were approved and signed by the Prime Minister and their flight to Miami has been delayed all week.  Another group of orphans had all of their correct paperwork in hand and were waiting at the airport when they were attacked.  The police were called in, the Americans were detained, and the children were sent to a UNICEF tent city.  I saw pictures of this tent city...they did not have bottles to feed the babies.  They did not have adequate resources to care for the children.  And yet this is UNICEF...the organization that is supposed to protect children.  Well, they could at least have had the children go bak to where they were - a licensed creche - until they got everything sorted out.  But no, UNICEF with its strong arms and self-proclaimed power stepped in, took over, and traumatized these children.  Can someone please explain to me how this is protecting the children????

Princess N and Quarterback continue to do so well with him.  Princess N's class celebrated raising nearly $500 for HIS Home and NVM, nearly a quarter of the $2000 raised by the school.  Then the following Monday, their teachers threw Joshua a reception at school.  We have an amazing school and amazing teachers.  Thanks!!!!

Princess N is born to be a mom. She takes really good care of him.  It is obvious that he loves her and she loves him.  QB is a boy...it is clear to us that he loves having Joshua here.  He is just not as outgoing about it, being more interested in his Wii and DS.  He does help when needed and is oh-so-excited to have Joshua in the same room with him.

Our routine was disrupted last night, so I have a sleeping boy in my arms right now.  I think I will join him!

Always hoping.  Always praying.  Always trusting.  Always.
